There’s a Better Way.

Thousands of vacation home owners are renting their properties right now. But are they being wise about how they are renting their properties? We have all heard of the horror stories of the damage done by renters, the renters who would never leave, the renters who upset the neighborhood and so now old friends stop talking... Renting is just not worth it. I would rather sell my property than go through the hassle of renting.

There is a better way. Imagine quality renters paying premium dollars to have the privilege of staying in your vacation property. Before you begin to rent you need to create systems to ensure your life as a vacation property renter is easy. Create a relaxing and inviting environment with all the amenities you would appreciate in your vacation home. Have dish or cable installed.  I'm sure that your family and friends would love it, so why not your guests.  Do you like to take your vacation laundry to the Laundromat and spent half a day inside, away from the beach/lake/cabin.  How about a stackable washer/dryer in your own property. Charge a little more for this great feature and have it pay for itself.

A campfire or fire pit is great for the evening talks or sing-along. The trash does build up but where do you put it all.  A weekly trash service comes with the large receptacles for $5 for a month.  Oh, is it worth it!  Not to have to smell the fish long after it is eaten. The liquid soap dispenser for all to use but no germs as there are on bars of soap. The large bath towels that cover more than your shoulders. These are the little things that help you stand out, enable you to charge just a little more, and make your own time in your property relaxing.

Remember your first one or two years in the business will probably be your most expensive. Keep the faith and invest in your property for the long term. You will see your property value increase, your place will be easier to rent and to manage because your guests are comfortable in your home and most importantly you will be able to enjoy your property as if you were on vacation.
